About Little Pennypie

Little Pennypie is named after our puppy that we adopted in 2002, just a few months after our wedding.  We call her our "little Pennypie" since she is our first baby, a good primer for learning patience and parenting skills.  Bethany picked her out in a no-kill shelter just outside of Greensboro, NC when she was 4 months old and 15lbs.  Today Penny is about 30lbs and 9 years old. You wouldn't believe it now, but she was the quietest puppy in the litter!

Penny loves to play ball, swim, chew rawhide, and bark like Cujo at people walking by the storm door.  After a replaced ACL last year and a recent injury to her other leg, she's banished from running and walks around the neighborhood for a while.

After the birth of our daughter Natalie, I noticed that there wasn't much custom artwork available for children's rooms and nurseries.  I have been painting pet portraits and other art, in my Etsy shop Bethany Bryant Art.  I found Natalie got very excited when she saw my pet portraits, and thought that other children would like a picture of their doggie or kitty for their room.  It was freeing and fun to open another shop focusing on more whimsical portraits.  And so Little Pennypie was born!

I like to customize these portraits with colors from the bedroom, and use the themes of the childs' bedding to coordinate.  Read about Penny's portrait here.
